The Badlands National Park

Day 23
To avoid the heat, we started early and began hiking the Castle Trail at 8:30.  The trail was about 9 miles round trip along the top of the canyons through a mixture of grassland and Badland.  The hike was very flat, very hot, and very beautiful.  Signs constantly warned of rattlers in grassy areas, but we happily didn't see any.

On the return hike we partially climbed down the canyon walls, then hiked to the top of The Saddle-an outcropping from the cliffs with spectacular views.  Granted, some of the other hikers were irritating and ignorant 12 years-olds from Texas who used phrases like, "...it don't care".  What the hell kind of a statement is that?

Back at the campsite we quickly ate lunch, then drove back to Wall for laundry and some foodstuffs.  Quickly checking email during the spin cycle, we got a message from our past landlord regarding her unlawful retention of our security deposit.  Total bummer.

Why does the real world try to catch up with us? Regardless, we're in The Badlands and they are completely amazing.
