Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore

Day 18

Well, the 4th of July was spent with our non-Canadian international neighbors.  The campground had become invaded by families with 5 kids, mothers aged a few years past pre-teen, and massive SUVs toting more coolers than people.  After 2 hours of constant noise I couldn't translate and kids that probably
should spend 6 days a week in the kennel, I entered a state of sour irritation.  To put salt in the wound, my run was shitty and apparently Indianians don't yield for pedestrians.

After lunch we walked to the lakeshore for a swim, but instead found Latino Landing where fajita fiestas had taken over the Park Service picnic area.  Somehow we found a quite place 1/2 mile down the beach and set up camp.  Liv promptly fell completely asleep, and I followed suit a few chapters later.  Lake Michigan was extremely choppy, but
the high winds kept the clouds away, making Chicago visible 50 miles away.
Dinner was amazing chicken Alfredo over the campfire with banana boats for dessert.   The meal was unreal, but I accidentally threw our
silverware into the fire with the trash.  It survived alright with a few scars to show for its ordeal.
