Savanna, IL to Welcome, MN

Day 21
The violent storm from last night dwindled out as a mild rain by 7AM, our first rain since Ohio.  Breakfast
was taken at a locals-only cafe in Savanna where the waitress was also the cashier and cook and our foreign status drew substantial
 stares from the natives.
Afterwards we found
Internet beside some train tracks and researched the increasingly expensive prospects of flying to Alaska.

The rain cleared by 10:00 and was replaced by 90 degree temperatures just in time for our hike around the palisades.  The cliffs were very impressive with the Mississippi River passing at their base.
We drove westward, crossing the Mississippi at Dubuque, Iowa.  The Iowa/Illinois countryside was very scenic, with the scars from the springs floods apparent in Iowa.  Twenty minutes after crossing into Minnesota we drove into a

torrential downpour, forcing the wagon off the road to keep things safe.  We had dinner in Austin, the home of SPAM!, at Domino's Pizza.  The pizza was late and miserable.

We concluded the 7th with 2 more hours of westward expansion driving through
endless farmland.  Finally, TomTom showed us to the Welcome Campground in Welcome, MN.  It was the type of campground where Welcoming was far from my perception and the shower had more cobwebs than water pressure.

A first class dump that was to provide us with welcomed sleep.
